Very difficult to focus but fabulous detail and good colour range .

The DP1 is not great for close up pictures but note the fabulous details and natural colours in this snapshot. The shadows are clear and the tones on the horse are really natural. Small splashes of pink seem to be handled well.

This next image has not faired well. Taken from the shadows on a sunny day the whole image seems washed out. The reds in the Kentucky logo at the back have become pinish and unclear.

My verdict at this stage is that the DP1 is fine for "managed" sceinc shots in good sunlight but why would you bother to use it? Why not fit a good lens to your DSLR and cover all basis. What I wanted from the DP1 was a small compact camera for high quality snapshots, but what I got was a camera that is neither a snapshot camera or high enough quality to replce an SLR.

The whole camera feels like an untested product, pre-released to get it out there. Unfortunately at £500 plus its too expensive to risk - don't buy it! Buy a proper DSLR for the money or save £200 and buy a Canon G9.
